Ordering by size and problem solving: 'How do you measure the weight of a book?'

11th Jun 2017

We were given the challenge of picking 3 books of different sizes, ordering them from smallest to largest, thinking of a way to record our ideas and prove our answer using equipment!

We had to discuss which books we thought went where, predicting which were bigger and smaller -some of us even predicted that the weight might be connected to the size!- and give a reason for our predictions. It was definitely a challenge to have to write our ideas down clearly but we shared ideas that worked well with our friends. We also used balance scales to compare the weight when we thought that books were too close in size to be sure which was 'bigger' or 'smaller'.

We had our Sherlock Holmes brains on FULL POWER!
