P4/5 were crawling and creeping round the school... on a mini beast hunt!

5th Sep 2017

Mr McParland led Primary 4/5 on a mini beast hunt that combined their World Around Us topic and data handling in numeracy as well as investigation and problem solving skills.

The children had a list of mini beasts to look for and had to search high and low, taking a tally of what they saw as they went. They had to apply their knowledge and understanding of the mini beasts' habitats in order to predict where they might be found, observing patterns in features (the ones living under stones and rocks tended to be dark in colour) and thinking about the 'why' behind these features.
