Chinese New Year
In preparation for the Lunar New Year Primary 4 and 5 were learning all about why this is one of the most important holidays in Chinese tradition. We learnt lots of Chinese traditions and were able to draw similarities and differences with our own culture. One of which being the importance of family around this time of year. Celebrations to usher out the old year and bring forth prosperity and luck were often marked in the form of a Parade. We were inspired to make our very own Chinese dragons that are an important element to the Chinese Parades. To further explore our curiosity we were very lucky to welcome April and McKenna to our school who told us more interesting facts about the new year and what it meant for April's family growing up. We ended our visit learning how to make lovely new year decorations to take home and discuss with our families
