On Monday 6th March the children enjoyed a day of Level 1 Cycle Training with experts from Sustrans. They learned the key skills of checking your bike and that it is working properly, learning the safe way to start with a quick glance over the shoulder. They also practiced glancing over their shoulder while cycling, emergency stop, cycling with one hand, cycling as slowly as possible and especially always keeping full control of the bike. A fun day of learning finished with multiple turns racing against the clock around an obstacle course with lots of laughter and cheering. Thanks so much to the dedicated trainers and to Newry, Mourne and Down District Council for funding the day, which was topped off by a visit from the Mayor, Cllr. Michael Savage.
