Maths Week Ireland Activities
What is Maths week?
Maths Week Ireland is held on the 13th - 21st October every year to encourage and enhance a positive attitude towards learning maths regardless of age, gender, ethnicity, background, needs or abilities. Maths Week Ireland has been held annually since 2006 and has since become the world's largest maths festival, with an estimated record of over 400,000 people participating.
How did we celebrate Maths Week in P4/5?
We participated in maths games afternoons in which we had to use our thinking skills in order to complete the games such as mathopoly and the card game 21. This was a really fun way of using our maths skills in a small group enviroment and we had a lot of fun. We also created a range of animal shapes using tanagrams and were fascinated by all the different pictures we could make!
