Mummifying Fruit
25th Oct 2022
We combined science and history in our WAU lesson when learning about mummification and preserving foods. As part of our Ancient Egypt topic P.4/5 are learning about how Pharaohs were preserved to to help them in the next life. Pharaohs went through a process of mummification where their bodies were dried out and coated in a special salt (natron). As a class we decided to test this theory out on fruit creating our own salt mixture of salt and baking soda. One half of an apple was left in the salt mixture and one without. We made our predictions of how the apple would turn out and observed if our predictions were true after 7 days.
