Killowen Primary School, Rostrevor

Primary 4/5

Dear parents and pupils,

Welcome to P4/P5.

A new beginning for us all. I hope this will be a meaningful year in which we all grow together, both academically and socially.

I encourage you to read with you child, it is the key to success. Ask questions about the text, discuss the characters and scenes. Ask your child to predict what happens next - above all, make this a relaxed and enjoyable experience. If the text is difficult share the reading. The adult reads and then the child reads, or both read slowly together. Discuss any new vocabulary and repeat so that new words become familiar.

Count with your child, go over number bonds, and adding in your head. Count forwards, backwards and then start on tables. Please encourage, praise and support.

If you have any concern make an appointment and we will endeavour to find a solution together. Listen to your child. I will endeavour to encourage, stretch and befriend your child.

In class we will have a structured day covering the full curriculum.

I hope we will communicate fully to ensure your child reaches their full potential. Let us live up to faith, friendship & understanding.
